Knowledge Tree of Good and Evil
Adam and Eve were in perfect communion with the Creator, YHVH, (which I pronounce, YaHoVah, with the emphasis on the YaH). They met Him in the spirit of the day and enjoyed fellowship with Him. As a matter of fact, YHVH immediately made a day that He programmed all of creation to set the day apart and spend it with Him just after he made man. It was like He said, “WOW, now I have a creature in my own image and I just want to celebrate him! All that I have created is GOOD and I think I will decree that all of creation should rest with me on this one day! It will be a sign to the world that all those who honor me in this rest, it is they who are mine!” THIS IS THE 7TH DAY SHABBAT REST. Because there are many little g gods that people worship and this one thing distinguishes HIM.
So, if Adam and Eve were in communion with Him, they were in communication with Him. When one communes with another, some form of communication is evident because that is part of the definition of the word communion. They had access to the Creator AND we see in the Scriptures that God went looking for them to be in communion with them, they didn’t have to go to and fro and search for Him.
Then, Eve “touched” the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and ate its fruit and gave it to her husband and he ate it too. I believe that the enemy, Lucifer showed Eve how to stand and be called “god” by showing her how to cross the genetics of the tree. I say this because the rule of first mention for the word good is: when YaHoVaH looked upon His creation and called it good. By simple definition the knowledge of good is what He created and so in turn the knowledge of evil is the “corruption of good” or defilement of the creation.
Additionally, the very act of disobedience to the command of YaH means that mankind allowed the enemy to gain entry into his mind, through accepting his suggestions into his thought processes. All knowledge of evil comes to mankind this way. Eve wanted to be as God, envious of Him and wanting to possess His abilities.
One need only to look into the declarations of Lucifer to see that this is his greatest desire. Isaiah 14:12-14 (KJV) 12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
(Some theologians suggest and it could very well be though, that because the first created beings, the Angels, had already fallen that YHVH then made a representation of the corrupted creation, genetics and crossing of life, and set it in the middle of the perfect paradise of the garden and instructed man not to eat of it. This would be giving man ONE LAW to keep so that mankind would not be kept in a blind state of obedience and given no options for a different outcome.)
The corrupted creation or tree of the knowledge of good and evil was the tree that gave man the choice to want to be like YaHoVaH in a way which was not sanctioned by Him. Adam and Eve knew God in the most profound way –as The Creator. He let them know Him in many intimate ways as they communed together but the one way He did not want them to try to be like Him was to try to create. Creation was complete.
Lucifer’s sin was to want to be like the most High God and be called God, even to stand in God’s place. So, many theologians believe that God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden to give man the option to operate in the same sin which is the jealousy of who God is.
Other theologians believe that she mingled the seed so we do not know that she just walked up to the tree and picked the fruit but it would really not be outside the realm of plausiblity that she mingled the seed of the tree, since the reason she was enticed to do so was in order to be as “god” because picking a fruit does not show any “godlike” qualities. She may have crossed the genetics and it took quite a bit of time to produce the fruit…we do not know with any certainty either way, but there are several things we do know:
- YaHoVaH communicated His law to them by verbal communication as we see in Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And YaHoVaH (the LORD) God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And YaHoVaH (the LORD) God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. - His communion time with man was going along just fine until the ONLY command He had given man was deliberately broken. We read how YHVH our Elohim God interacted with Adam. Genesis 2:18-20 (KJV) 18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
- Genesis 2:21-25 (KJV)
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. - Genesis 3:4-5 (KJV)
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.- Knowing good and evil can be interpreted as knowing that good is God’s creation and evil is the corruption of it, touching it or maligning it.
- The sin of jealousy of YaHoVaH is the common denominator which has as a root, pride. Yes, pride since believing that one could be as YHVH is so prideful (and almost ridiculous).
When all of creation suffered the fall of man, one of the things that had to happen was that man and all the animals (maybe vegetation as well) all lost some of their functions. Man was then only able to utilize around 10-15% of his brain and animals also lost most of their brain’s abilities, the serpent spoke and Eve was not surprised which leads many to believe that animals had the ability to speak prior to the fall.)
Imperfect man could not have all the power he was given initially because now that sin (which is a being) had gained entrance to his mind, it was not safe to let man have those abilities…and, it wouldn’t be fair to the other animals and living creatures to have a high sense of knowledge in an imperfect world.
A SIDE NOTE OF INTEREST: (I found the movie, “Lucy” very interesting to note that unredeemed man’s idea of what a person could do with 100% of their brain was that they would have control of time and matter. This is a flawed ideology on many fronts but mainly because the author based all of his assumptions on evolution as the origin of life. What I believe is that if a person had 100% usage of their brain they would have the ability to see the fullness of all life forms and matter would be opened up to them. I base that on the fact that there are 10 dimensions, and in our current state mankind can only know 4 dimensions. ALSO, man could never have the control over time on this planet because YaHoVaH set the foundations of time up with all of its constraints and man cannot undo that. In the Third Heaven there are no time constraints but that is not so here.)
Genesis 3:9-21 (KJV)
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Always God reaches out to man and even though He knew where Adam and Eve were physically, He was asking where they were in the spirit of the day. The communion with the Holy Spirit was always available because of the indwelling with basically sinless people. YHVH or YaH slayed a lamb before the foundations of time, I believe in order to cover the sins that man would commit just as a matter of being human and not divine. It was not until they rebelled and willfully disobeyed the command of YaH that a new protocol had to be established in order to have communion restored.
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
It could be that here we see Adam remind YHVH that He himself prophesied that Adam would forsake father and mother for this woman at the time when He gave her to him.
13 And YaHoVaH (the LORD) God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And YaHoVaH (the LORD) God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
This talk of seed could lengthen this teaching too much but I will just say that it is because of the mingling of the seed which I explained earlier many believe is the way in which Eve touched the tree.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
The LORD gave His life to break this curse off of women and now a man rules his household by laying down his life for his wife. I have an entire teaching on my website regarding the curse of woman so if you want to read it and understand things fully go to my site and find it, entitled: Are You Under A Curse?
