Feast of Trumpets or Yom Teruah

Yom Teruah  THE  FEAST  OF  TRUMPETS

THE LORD, Y’SHUA HaMASCHIACH SAID THAT  HE IS THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE !  THIS IS THE DAY OF THE BIRTH OF THE RESURRECTION, WHICH MAKES THE WAY FOR THE NEXT TIME HE COMES ON THE LAST DAY…

…When the last trumpet will sound

The Heavens opened 3 times during the Lord’s time on the Earth:  At His Birth, Mikveh (Baptism) and at the Mount of Transfiguration which is believed to be on Yom Kippur.

This is the only Feast that is 2 Days and which is not given an actual date but is determined by the sighting of the new moon in Jerusalem so that, “no man knows the day or the hour” it will occur each year.

Messiah came on this Feast day in 3 B.C. when the Great Sign in Heaven occurred and which was foretold by Daniel the Prophet in his writings as the Chief Lord of Wisdom in Babylon. This is why the “wise men” knew to go to Bethlehem when they saw this sign appear. It was the convergence of 9 constellations at once and it only happened again on Yom Teruah, 2017..

Luke 2:6-20 (KJV)
6  And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15  And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16  And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17  And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18  And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19  But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20  And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

The shepherds were priests. They were charged with overseeing the lambs used for sacrifices. They were in the fields with flocks, preparing for Yom Kippur. Angels were permitted that night by The Father to be seen of men and the Heavens opened up. The shepherd priests heard the angelic hosts of Heaven proclaiming and praising. Afterwards, the heavens received them back again into Heaven.

ALL the types and shadow pictures have been fulfilled to the degree that makes the way for future fulfillments.

There are many reasons to sound the trumpets; The Feast of Trumpets is a celebration of all of the occasions for trumpet blowing.

In order to have the benefit of Yom Kippur and have cover for their sins, the sins must be brought to mind. The Trumpet sounds to begin the days of reflection.

It is a time for honoring and recognizing God with the faith for provision of a bountiful harvest:  not just for the land but also for the womb.  See Gen. 29 and I Samuel:1 for the stories of Sarah and Hannah.

Numbers says that it is a memorial for you before your Elohim, YaHoVaH.

It is a witness; and a calling forth of the witnesses for YaHoVaH in the Earth.

It is not a time of morose depressive attitudes but rather a time of joyful celebration that a Holy and Righteous God has made a way to rid people of sin and have intimacy with God.  It celebrates His goodness and mercy.

Jews have a ceremony that they perform on the 1st afternoon of what they call, Rosh HaShanah-the scripture for it is found in Micah 7:18-20.  They call it a tashlich and it is casting their sins into flowing water.  It is a cleansing ritual.

As stated, many trumpets are to be blown but the Feast of Trumpets is a time for remembering all of them.  I have listed them below.  We celebrate that there ARE trumpets being blown!  Both in Heaven and in the Earth they are being blown.

This Feast was fulfilled by Y’shua at his birth.  The Heavens were opened and the angelic hosts rejoiced openly to which the shepherds in the fields saw and realized that this baby born was the Son of God!

It is called, The Day of Judgment (Yom Ha-Zikaron, the Day of Remembrance) Birthday of the world… This very well may be the birth of the new Earth and the new Heaven as stated in Revelation –which came down from Heaven…We are the new earth as Spirit filled believers and the new Heaven is within us?  Some believe this and I am seeking for answers.

The Feast was also fulfilled by Y’shua when He went into Hell and set the captives free.  The resurrection of the dead was made possible with the application of His Blood on the Mercy Seat in Heaven, thereby fulfilling the perfect sacrifice for the sins of man and relieving us of the wrath of God.

Traditionally it is the Jewish New Year (Rosh HaShanah literally is “Head or beginning of the year.” God’s Royalty (Coronation Day) It is the Day of Judgment – As Jews worldwide examine their past deeds and ask for forgiveness for their sins.

God has always had a heart to warn people, REMINDING THEM of His Laws, before He proclaims judgment.  He does not want anyone to receive the wrath of His judgment (Ezekiel [Yechezekel] 18:21-23,30-32; Zephaniah 2:1-3; 33:1-7; 2 Peter 3:9).

The first day of the seventh month is mentioned in the Book of Nehemiah as a holy day upon which an important event took place in the year 444 BCE:

When the seventh month arrived–the Israelites being [settled] in their towns–the entire people assembled as one man in the square before the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring the scroll of the Teaching of Moses with which the Lord had charged Israel. On the first day of the seventh month, Ezra the priest brought the Teaching before the congregation, men and women and all who could listen with understanding. He read from it, facing the square before the Water Gate, from the first light until midday… (Nehemiah 8:1‑3).

At this impressive gathering, the people of Israel renewed their covenant with God and accepted the Torah as their basic law. The people wept when they realized how far they had strayed from the teachings that were in the Torah. But they were admonished not to mourn because “this day is holy to the Lord your God” (Nehemiah 8:9). The holiness of the first day of the seventh month-‑made plain in this biblical narrative-‑may constitute the reason that it was chosen for this ceremony of reading and accepting the Law. At the same time, the Bible does not describe any specific New Year customs observed on that day.(From: My Jewish Learning) Y’shua fulfilled the Law by becoming flesh and dwelling among us so that He is the embodiment of the Law.

A designated season known as Teshuvah, which in Hebrew means “to return or repent,” begins on the first day of the month of Elul and continues 40 days, ending with Yom Kippur on Tishrei 10. Thirty days into Teshuvah, on Tishrei l, comes Rosh HaShanah. This begins a final ten-day period beginning on Rosh HaShanah and ending on Yom Kippur. These final 10 days are known as the High Holy Days and as the Days of Awe (Yamim Nora’im).

It is the Day of Shofar Blowing – As the Shofar (the rams horn) is blown in temple to herald the beginning of the 10-day period known as the High Holy Days

It is the Day of Remembrance – As Jews review the history of their people and pray for Israel

And of course it is New Year’s Day – Celebrated with holiday greeting cards, special prayers, and festive and sweet foods (to ensure sweetness in the New Year)

Specific uses for the Shofar –Biblical Verses

It was sounded to bring Moses to the top of the mountain to receive the Commandments. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And YaHoVaH (the LORD) came down upon Mt. Sinai, on the top of the mount: and YaHoVaH  (the LORD) called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up (Exodus 19:19-20).

It was a signal during time of war. And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them (Judges 3:27).

It was blown at the start of the Jubilee year. Then shall thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land (Leviticus 25:9).

It was blown during coronation services of a new King. And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there, king over Israel: and blow ye with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon (1 Kings 1:34).

It is a sign of the re-gathering of dispersed Israel. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship YaHoVaH (the LORD) in the holy mount at Jerusalem (Isaiah 27:13).

It was sounded as a warning of danger. Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid… (Amos 3:6).

And the greatest anticipation of all is the day of the arrival of the Messiah. And the YaHoVaH (LORD) shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south (Zechariah 9:14).  Y’shua fulfilled this at His birth!

The sabbath that falls within this ten-day period is called Shabbat Shuvah, the Sabbath of Return. Five days after Yom Kippur is Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles.

Each morning during the 30 days of the month of Elul leading to Yom Kippur, the trumpet (shofar) or ram’s horn is blown to warn the people to repent and return to YaHoVaH.

Teshuvah (repentance) speaks to all people. Those who believe in the Messiah are called to examine their lives and see where they have departed from YaHoVaH. It is a call to examine the Scriptures and the evidence that the Messiah was who He said He was.

The whole month of Elul is a 30-day process of preparation through personal examination and repentance for the coming High Holy Days. The shofar is blown after every morning service. Psalm 27, which begins with “The Lord is my light and my salvation,” is also recited at the end of the morning and evening liturgy. The message from Elul 1 to Yom Teruah is clear: Repent before Yom Teruah. Don’t wait until after Yom Teruah, or you will find yourself in the Days of Awe.
